Refurbished play parks in Campbeltown open

Five play parks in and around Campbeltown that were being refurbished have re-opened ahead of schedule.

Children and young people will now be able to make the most of the play parks during the summer holidays, which is good news for both locals and young visitors to the town.

The parks at Lochend, Hillside, Meadows, Jock’s Boat and Stewarton were given a facelift and some equipment replaced thanks to an £186,000 share of £938,000 of funding, allocated to 51³Ô¹ÏÃâ·ÑApp and Bute, by the Scottish Government for play park equipment.

The Council worked closely with Campbeltown Community Council and Stewarton Hall Committee to ensure the equipment meets with the needs of the children and young people who will use it. The survey highlighted a need for accessible equipment, so Hillside and the Meadows will be fitted out with wheelchair accessible roundabouts.

Councillor John Armour, the Council’s Policy Lead for Roads, Transport and Amenity Services, said: “I’m delighted that the work was done and dusted in time for the school holidays. Thanks to everyone who helped us produce plans that were best for our communities and I hope that our young people enjoy themselves for years to come.â€
