Lomond Area - Limited Access General Waste & Recycling UPDATED

General waste and recycling collections on the limited access routes in the Lomond area are subject to disruptions this week. UPDATE 24/12/25 - Please leave your general waste bin out and it will be collected as soon as possible. 

Unfortunately, due to a vehicle breakdown, recycling collections are canceled until their next scheduled collection date. 

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Islay & Jura Recycling Collections 22/12/25 UPDATED

Due to a vehicle breakdown we are unable to collect recycling due today and tomorrow morning on Islay. We are sourcing a part for the vehicle today and expect it to be fitted tomorrow. We will then begin catch up, and the team will work extra on Boxing Day to complete any outstanding collections. Could you please leave your bins out until they are collected. Thank you and apologies for the inconvenience.

UPDATE 23/12/25 - The vehicle has now been repaired. Please see below list of collections that have been arranged to catch up:

• 23/12/25 - Islay domestic recycling bins
• 24/12/25 - Islay commercial recycling bins
• 26/12/25 - Jura domestic and commercial recycling bins

Glass collection - Fionnphort & Iona - 17/12/25 UPDATED

Due to a vehicle breakdown, the glass collection due on Wednesday 17th December in Fionnphort and Iona will not take place. We will provide an update as soon as this collection has been rescheduled. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. 

UPDATE 22/12/25 - This glass collection will now take place on Saturday 27th December.

Bin collection arrangements - A83 Lochnell Street closure

We ask residents affected by the road closure on Lochnell Street to please take their bins to the road closure opposite the free church, the corner of Union Street and Campbell Street or the path at the Red Cross building (which ever is closest to them), for collection on your scheduled collection dates. 

EV Charging Network - Faults - 02.12.2025

Electric Vehicle Charger Faults

We have some faults across our network of 37 EV chargers at the moment. We are working with our maintenance contractors to have these repaired as soon as possible.

The faults and some details are listed below. You can see the full range of publicly available chargers in 51³Ô¹ÏÃâ·ÑApp and Bute (not just those operated by the Council) on the .

• 53517 Tiree Ferry Terminal – Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit.  Unfortunately, there are no other Council chargers at this site, but all public chargers can be found via the Charge Place Scotland website using the link above.
• 53518 Community Centre, Coll - Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit. Unfortunately, there are no other Council chargers at this site, but all public chargers can be found via the Charge Place Scotland website using the link above.
• 51510 Tweeddale Street, Oban - Charger has come to the  end of its lifecycle, and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit.  There is another charger at this location
• 51137 Inveraray - Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit.  There is an alternative charger at this location all public EVCs can be found via .
• 52304 Bank Street, Bowmore - internal communication error on B Side, CPS are aware and are arranging an engineer, the date will be confirmed ASAP.   There is another charger at this location and all public EVCs can be found via .
