Food Waste collections - Helensburgh & Lomond

We are unfortunately unable to complete food waste collections until further notice due to a vehicle breakdown. 

An update will be provided as soon as these collections can resume. 

In the meantime, we advise residents to put any food waste in their green general waste bin

Gigha - Commercial General Waste Collections

We have been unable to collect commercial general waste on Gigha on the 5th and 12th of February due to ferry sailing cancellations. These collections will now take place on Saturday 14th February, weather dependent. Can all commercial properties affected please have their bins presented for collection on Saturday.

B8074 Bridge of Orchy Road - Closure 10/02/26

The B8074 has been closed to allow for emergency repairs to be carried out.

Around 3 miles south of Bridge of Orchy, a section of the verge has washed away and the road surface has been undermined.

We expect the road to reopen for the weekend.

An alternative route is available via the A82 and A85 trunk roads.

EV Charging Network - Faults - 09.02.2026

Electric Vehicle Charger Faults

We have some faults across our network of EV chargers at the moment. We are working with our maintenance contractors to have these repaired as soon as possible.

The faults and some details are listed below. You can see the full range of publicly available chargers in 51³Ô¹ÏÃâ·ÑApp and Bute (not just those operated by the Council) on the .

There are a number of chargers being replaced, to find alternatives please use the link above 

The Following chargers are being replaced and will no longer be available for public use during this transition:

  • 51130 Campbeltown Ferry Terminal
  • 51138 Alexandra Parade, Dunoon
  • 51137 The Avenue, Inveraray
  • 51140 Lorne Street Car Park, Lochgilphead

Week beginning 23rd Feb 26

  • 51511 Craignure, Mull
  • 51510 Tweeddale Street Carpark, Oban

Week beginning 2nd March 26

  • 51517 Tiree Ferry Terminal

the following chargers have faults;

  • 52303 Bank Street, Bowmore - SWARCO are awaiting parts and once received an engineer will be scheduled to attend
  • 52303 Craignure, Mull - SWARCO are awaiting parts and once received an engineer will be scheduled to attend.  
  • 52307 Inverary - SWARCO are awaiting parts and once received an engineer will be scheduled to attend

Postcode search not working on payment portal

There is currently an ongoing issue with the postcode look-up on the payment portal. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our provider is looking into this. 

Coll - Waste Collections 07/02/26

The waste collections scheduled for Coll on Saturday 7th February will now take place the following Saturday, 14th February. We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.

Street Lighting - 51³Ô¹ÏÃâ·ÑApp Road & St Modens Way, Helensburgh

We have a cable fault that is affecting around 20 lights in the area.  This has been reported to Scottish Power and we are awaiting their attendance.

Road closed at Gribun rocks.

B8035 Kinloch - Gruline Road - Isle of Mull

Closed to all through traffic due to rock falls at Gribun Rocks.

Diversion via A849 Kinloch - Craignure - Salen 

A83 Lochnell Street, Lochgilphead - open under traffic signal control

The A83 Lochnell Street re-opened this afternoon (24 December) under traffic signal control.

Parking restrictions on Lorne Street, Union Street and Manse Brae have now been revoked.

East Princes Street, Helensburgh - traffic lights

We are aware of a fault with the traffic lights at East Princes Street. The contractor has been contacted and will be attending to carry out the repair 

Streetlighting Issues - Dunoon - SSE Works

The streetlighting on the following streets has been affected by ongoing SSE works

  • Royal Crescent
  • Victoria Road
  • John Street
  • Hanover Street

They are working to restore lighting in the area asap

Temporary closure - Tiree Customer Service Point

Tiree Customer Service Point will be temporarily closed from Monday 18th of August as the Service Point officer has taken up a different post within Social Care. We apologise for any inconvenience. Telephone and online services are available. 

The Service Point Office at Crossapol continues to be used by Social Care and limited facilities remain there mornings only to make face to face payments and Blue Badge and cemetery/lair enquiries.
