Work will start this week to restore the shopfront of the former M&Co building in Dunoon to its former glory.

The Scottish and UK governments have signed a £70 million investment programme with 51�Թ����App and Bute Council to deliver vital economic growth for the area.

At the recent Community Services Committee, Councillors heard from just some of the young people who have been instrumental in helping to shape the way they learn and develop. Children from Colgrain Primary School gave a presentation about their involvement in helping to inform a revised education strategy and vision, along with young people from across 51�Թ����App and Bute.

Increased educational benefits, new contemporary accessible community facilities and long term economic benefits to the island were at the heart of the decision to name Tobermory South as the preferred site for a new £43 million 2-18 campus.

51�Թ����App and Bute Council has reaffirmed its commitment to raising attainment and delivering positive outcomes for Care Experienced Children and Young People (CECYP) across 51�Թ����App and Bute in the coming year.

Here to Hear you is an opportunity for people to have a conversation with their council’s leadership and share their views on the big issues for the place where they live.

Following a consultation with communities and children, councillors have approved a proposal to rezone the catchment area for Dalmally Primary School.

“To be honest I didn't really think counselling would help, but it's helped me a lot. It's like laying everything out in front of me so I can sort it out in my head.”

This is just some of the feedback from children and young people who have accessed the 51�Թ����App and Bute Council’s counselling in schools service.

“Public views have been key in reaching the stage we are now at in bringing multi-million pound investment in education services for Mull. At £43 million the campus is the council’s largest single investment. We are making this in what is one of the most challenging financial periods facing 51�Թ����App and Bute services.
We would like to thank everyone who has got involved in the process and are sharing their thoughts with us on the next steps. With different views from across the island, we are considering all feedback. We also have to consider what is feasible to deliver with the available funding and what will bring the most benefit to our young people and communities, both now and for generations to come.” - Councillor Jim Lynch, Leader of 51�Թ����App and Bute Council.

Tackling the housing emergency in 51�Թ����App and Bute remains a priority for the council and at today’s council meeting, councillors agreed to allocate further funding from the Strategic Housing Fund (SHF) to help address the area’s housing shortage.
