51³Ô¹ÏÃâ·ÑApp and Bute Council, through RPS Tetra Tech, plans to submit Marine Licence applications in January 2026 for dredging and construction works at Gigha and Tayinloan.
These projects support ferry infrastructure upgrades to accommodate a new hybrid vessel introduced as part of Transport Scotland’s Small Vessel Replacement Project. These are separate projects under licensing but are progressing in tandem as they relate to ferry infrastructure works, where the ferry services both locations.
These projects relate to the Scoping Opinions- and . Both projects require pre-application consultations under the Marine Licensing (Pre-application Consultation) (Scotland) Regulations 2013. To meet these requirements, two separate consultation events will take place:
Gigha infrastructure improvements:
- Gigha (Ardminish Bay): Improvements include widening the existing slipway and adding a new overnight charging berth to support hybrid ferries.
- Pre-application consultation (PAC) event at Gigha Village Hall: Wednesday 27 August 2025, 10am–3pm and 5pm–8pm
Tayinloan infrastructure improvements:
- Tayinloan: Works include extending the breakwater and renewing the alignment structure to enhance slipway facilities for the new vessels.
- Pre-application consultation (PAC) event at Tayinloan Village Hall: Thursday 28 August 2025, 10am–3pm and 5pm–8pm
Local adverts and statutory consultee notifications will be issued at least six weeks before the events.
